Computer Based Test (CBT)
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the UK is an exam by Pearson VUE that nurses must take to work in the UK. This test has two parts. In the first part, called CBT, candidates can choose their specialized field, like adult nursing, children’s nursing, learning disabilities, or mental health nursing. There are 120 multiple-choice questions, and candidates have 4 hours to answer them.
After passing CBT, candidates move on to the second part, called OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination). This part tests practical knowledge. Only when a candidate successfully completes both CBT and OSCE are they eligible to work as a registered nurse in the UK.
